About

Chet Bassetti, co-owner of The Barrel Rack in Reno, has invented a new design that raises the bar for wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs – a wine rack that is too alluring to hide in the cellar.
Chet and Diane Bassetti have created a unique and beautiful way to store and showcase their wine that would complement any décor: a wine barrel, wine rack. The husband-and-wife team decided to market their creative and functional design to homeowners, homebuilders/remodelers, architects, interior designers, faux painters, stagers, wineries, and wine stores.
Chet, a retired electrical engineer, and his wife, Diane, desired a rack system for their wine collection that didn’t resemble the typical cross-hatched, angular designs that were available when they built their home in the mountains near the Reno/Tahoe area. Frustrated with the lack of choices and fueled with the idea of using a wine barrel in a decorative and useful way, Chet set out to build his first prototype using a barrel he obtained from a local store. It took the precise mind of an engineer and several months to painstakingly develop the inserts that accurately fit each barrel and hold the wine bottles. Now, instead of dreaming of a beautiful wine cellar, homeowners can have one of their own –almost anywhere in their home.
Made from American white oak or French oak, these elegant yet rustic recycled barrels are skillfully created the same way barrels were made over a century ago. Chet’s patented design (*1) can accommodate three cases of wine.
Each rack has 18 cradles, which hold up to 36 bottles, two deep, and can be stacked on its side in single or multiple configurations. There are three hoops on the exterior and a tongue and groove interior. Sealed inside and out and custom stained to a beautiful finish, they are protected from cracking, drying, shrinking and expanding. The hoops are stained a georgeous copper/bronze finish. The wine bottles are easy to insert or remove, making the task of selecting wine a delightful experience.
The newly released recycled 1/2 and 1/3 barrel products are perfect for those who want the romantic experience of Napa in their own home.
